Roulette is one of the few casino table games that doesn’t use cards.  Roulette has a wheel on the corner of the table that spins one direction, and the dealer spins a ball in the opposite direction.  The wheel contains a number of slots, most commonly 38.  You can bet on any number from 1 to 36, including 0 and 00 (double-zero).

Betting:
Making a bet in roulette is easy.  You can place a chip anywhere on the table, and even on the edges, rows, or corners of numbers if you want to divide your bet between them.  The simplest bets are the 1 to 1 payouts, (Red or Black, High or Low, and Even or Odd).  The next payout are the 2 to 1’s, including 12 numbers in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd set of numbers, or the columns as well.  For a 5 to 1 payout you can place a chip between any two rows, which covers 6 numbers.  The basket bet is a 6 to 1 payout and is placed at the corner of the 1 and 0.  This bet wins if the ball lands in 00, 0, 1, 2, or 3.  If you place a chip at the corner of any four numbers, and one of those numbers wins that pays 8 to 1.  A single row pays 11 to 1, and is bet by placing a chip on the edge of that row.  A split bet pays 17 to 1, and is bet by placing a chip directly between two numbers.  A straight bet has the largest payout, 35 to 1, and only covers the number you directly place the chip on.
